Log cabins. Farmhouse. Chippy paint. Patina-ed metals. If that all sounds heavenly to you, then you might just love a rustic bedroom. It’s a comfortable and laid back look that’s all about kicking your shoes off, grabbing a blanket and reading a book for an hour. Or two.
How Can I Make My Bedroom Look Rustic?
A rustic bedroom is going to have a lot of wood in a lot of different forms of distress: reclaimed, chipped paint, sun bleached or any other type of distressing you can think of will work. A quilt is great in a rustic, but a big chunky knit will work, too. Lace is a great counterbalance to the distressed wood. The metals are a statement in a rustic bedroom. Galvanized or oxidized or otherwise worn is perfect Natural elements like antlers and (please let it be faux) fur can be found in a rustic bedroom, too.
10 Rustic Bedroom Ideas
Warm Rustic
This pretty rustic bedroom is decorated warmly for fall. Those rich mustard accents are beautiful. But what makes this room rustic is the layers of weathered, wood, salvaged windows set on top of that faux brick. I’d love this even more if that were real brick, but it definitely gets the style point across. You can find the details on this room at Grey Birch Designs.
Rustic Glam
I know, it seems weird, glam & rustic in one room. But you can’t deny the melding of the two styles in this room. All of that chippy, salvaged wood is most definitely rustic, but it’s all set off with those vintage looking chandeliers.
There is a lot of distress happening in this room and that can start to go wrong if you aren’t careful. Here the distressed elements are countered with the clean white linens on the bed and windows. You can find all of the details of this room on House On Winchester.
Tidy Rustic
If you really love the idea of a Rustic bedroom but you aren’t prepared to go all the way over the top with the super chippy paint look, then this is a great room to inspire you. It has salvaged elements like that door for a headboard and the bench at the end of the bed. The antlers are definitely rustic, too. But the really distressed look isn’t here. The door/headboard actually has a full coat of paint. But the antlers, the slightly wrinkled linens on the bed and the bench still give the rustic vibe. Romantic Rustic
This room could have stopped at that truly beautiful reclaimed wood plank wall and it would be a really warm, rustic room. But this room goes a little further with the patterned throw pillows and blanket on the bed. This is a room where you can just sink into that bed for an afternoon. And what’s great about this room is that sometimes when you create something as beautiful as that wall, you’re a little scared to cover it up. But those prints a great break from the dark, warm wood. Cabin Rustic
This rustic bedroom is like a vacation at a cabin in the mountains. That pine bed is a rustic staple, but it won’t work in every rustic bedroom. It does here because that room is huge. Those paintings above the bed are stunning and the stars of this room. You can find all of the details for this room on Houzz.
Barnwood Rustic
Of course the barnwood wall is a beautiful rustic element in this room, but I want to talk a little about the linens. That blue plaid wool blanket is beautiful and it gives that “camp” rustic feeling to this room without making the room feel like it’s wearing a “rustic” costume. This is a look you can feel confident you won’t tire of quickly. You can find all of the details for this room on Houzz.
Feminine Rustic
I love the juxtaposition of this dark, woodsy room with the feminine, but not girly touches like those shaggy pillow, the bedside flowersand the curves on the headboard. It’s like a woman moved in with her boyfriend and put her mark on the place. You can find the details for this room on Houzz.
Bright & Airy Rustic
A rustic room can be kind of dark, but this one is bright and airy with that distressed white wall and all of those windows. The pale wide plank forms keep things looking fresh, too. You can find all of the details for this room on Houzz.
OH Wow Rustic
Someone does go to sleep every night in this rustic bedroom. Isn’t that fun to think about, kind of? It’s gorgeous, of course with that fireplace and that fur (pretty sure it’s real, but maybe it’s one of those vintage furs) throw are rustic luxury.
